The publishing of The Waste Land is the consequence of the artistic research done by visual artist Laureana Toledo; throughout a critical perspective she approaches the struggles which pierce the peoples of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec: human displacements, militarization, forced migrations, environmental damage and corporative violence.
As the result of ten years of research, Toledo documents the region's resistance against the violent appropriation of natural resources exercised by multinational industries and state projects of energetic infrastructure.
